This release - when configured to display the solar position at a specific date and time, continues to update the world map and re-evaluate spot lifetimes every 2 minutes (tnx to Bob K5MYJ) - supports a GridDXCC database that enables a specified 4-character grid square to be mapped to the DXCC entity or entities that contain it (tnx to Joe W4TV) - with the GridDXCC database installed, *** when a grid square is typed into the Main window's Grid box and the Enter key is struck, indicates which DXCC entity or entities are contained in the 4-character grid square *** when a latitude or longitude is typed into the Main window's Location panel and the Enter key is struck, indicates which DXCC entity or entities are contained in the 4-character grid square that contains the specified location *** when a location is selected on the built-in or DX Atlas world map, indicates which DXCC entity or entities are contained in the 4-character grid square that contains the location - when run for the first time on a computer, displays the "DXLab License" for the user's approval - updates the Configuration.htm and Operation.htm documentation files Notes: 1. The new GridDXCC database that Joe W4TV has assembled contains entries for 12955 4-character grid squares. Each entry specifies - one or more DXCC entities - if an entry's grid square is uniquely contained within Alaska, Australia, Canada, Japan, Hawaii, or the continental US, the entry will also specify one or more primary administrative subdivisions (states, provinces, prefectures) - if an entry's grid square is uniquely contained within New Zealand, the entry will also specify one ore more call areas 2. To obtain the GridDXCC database, select the Databases tab of DXView's Configuration window and click the GridDXCC Database's Install button; ignore the message to terminate SpotCollector, as the current version of SpotCollector does not use the GridDXCC Database. 3. When you select a location (type in a grid square and strike Enter, type in a latitude or longitude and strike Enter, click on a location in the built-in world map, click on a location in the DX Atlas world map) with the Grid DXCC Database installed, *** if the 4-character grid square containing the selected location contains a single DXCC entity, ***** the entity will be specified in the Main window's DXCC panel ***** if the grid square contains one or more Australian States, Canadian Provinces, Japanese Prefectures, US States, or New Zealand call areas, the Main window's Location textbox will identify them *** if the selected location's 4-character grid square contains more than one DXCC entity, the names (if there's room) or DXCC prefixes of these entities will be identified in the Main window's Location textbox 4. This first version of the GridDXCC database undoubtedly contains errors and omissions; if you encounter one, please post it to the DXLab Yahoo Group 5. If you'd like to submit gridsquares describing an entity's primary administrative subdivisions for inclusion in a new version of the GridDXCC database, please post a message to the DXLab Yahoo Group 6. Update your firewall and anti-malware applications to consider this new version of DXView to be "safe" 7. If this upgrade doesn't work correctly, see the "After an Upgrade" section of 8. After upgrading, to revert to the previous version of DXView, see DXView 4.2.5 is available via the DXLab Launcher or via 73, Dave, AA6YQ
