Using DX Atlas with DXView on Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10

The first time they interoperate, DX Atlas and DXView require Administrator privileges when running on Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10. To accomplish this,

  1. Terminate all DXLab applications.
  2. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder that contains DxAtlas.exe

  3. Right-click on DxAtlas.exe and select Run As Administrator; if you are asked for an Administrator password, provide it.

  4. After DX Atlas starts, terminate it.

  5. In Windows Explorer, navigate to your DXView folder

  6. Right-click on DXView.exe and select Run As Administrator; if you are asked for an Administrator password, provide it.

  7. If DX Atlas does not start, open the World Map tab of DXView's Configuration window, and check the DX Atlas panel's Enable button; DX Atlas should start.

  8. After DXView and DX Atlas start, terminate DXView.

Note: do not configure DX Atlas to run in XP Compatibility mode.

If the above procedure is unsuccessful, and DX Atlas is installed in what Windows considers to be a protected folder (e.g. c:\program files or c:\program files (x86)) then uninstalling DX Atlas and re-installing it in another folder (e.g. c:\DX Atlas) may be effective.
