Updating QSOs Confirmed via LoTW to Reflect WAZ Zone Confirmations

QSOs confirmed via LoTW are valid for CQ WAZ awards if your QSO partner specified his or her CQ zone in the LoTW Station Location they used to submit your QSO. When LoTW reports confirmations in response to your invocation of the Sync LoTW QSLs or Update from LoTW functions, DXKeeper inserts a Z in the QSO's LoTW Cfm item if the QSO's confirmation is valid for WAZ. Because WAZ rules consider some inexact digital mode matches to count for WAZ mode awards, DXKeeper inserts a D in the QSO's LoTW Cfm item if the QSO's confirmation is valid for WAZ mode awards but does not contain the M that would be present if the mode match were exact.

QSO in your log that were marked as confirmed via LoTW by versions of DXKeeper prior to 14.5.7 do not indicate validity for WAZ in their LoTW Cfm items.

If you have fewer than 10,000 QSLs in LoTW, direct DXKeeper 14.5.7 (or later) to execute this procedure before retiring for the evening:

  1. On the QSL tab of Main window,
    1. set the QSL Via panel to LoTW

    2. while depressing the CTRL key, click the Sync LoTW QSLs button

DXKeeper will direct LoTW to report all of your confirmed QSOs, and update each logged QSO's LoTW Cfm item to reflect CQ zone confirmations (as well as grid square and US state confirmations).

If you have more than 10,000 QSLs in LoTW, this more targeted procedure may take less time; however, it won't update QSOs for which a needed zone, zone-band, zone-mode, or zone-band-mode confirmation has already been requested via an outgoing QSL card or received as a QSL card. To use DXKeeper 14.4.8 (or later) to update those confirmed-via-LoTW QSOs whose validity for WAZ would advance your progress toward the awards selected in the WAZ Bands & Modes panel on the Configuration window's Awards tab,

  1. backup your log by clicking the Backup button in the Backup folder panel on the Configuration window's Log tab

  2. in the Add Needed panel on the QSL Configuration window's General tab,

    1. note which boxes are checked in the Awards sub-panel

    2. in the Awards sub-panel, check the WAZ box, and uncheck all other boxes

  3. at the bottom of the Main window's Check Progress tab, click the Clear Select button

    • this action clears the Select item of every QSO in the log

  4. on the Main window's QSL tab,
    1. set the QSL Via panel to QSL cards

    2. click the Add Needed button

      • this action populates the QSL Queue with all QSOs whose confirmation is needed for the WAZ awards you are pursuing, and sets the Select item of each of these QSOs to Y

    3. click the Clear button

  5. on the Main window's Log QSOs tab, paste this SQL expression into the Filter panel textbox, and then strike CTRL-S: (APP_DXKEEPER_SELECT='Y') and (APP_DXKEEPER_LOTW_QSL_RCVD in ('Y','S','V'))

    • this action populates the Log Page Display with QSOs confirmed via LoTW whose WAZ confirmation is needed for the WAZ awards you are pursuing

  6. on the Main window's QSL tab,
    1. set the QSL Via panel to LoTW

    2. click the Update from LOTW button

      • this action queries LoTW for the confirmation status of each QSO in the Log Page Display and updates the logged QSO's LoTW Cfm item with that status

  7. in the Add Needed panel on the QSL Configuration window's General tab, restore the Awards sub-panel checkboxes to the state you noted in step 2.a above
