Private vs. Public Networks
Windows Defender describes a private network as a network at home or work, where you know and trust the people on the network, and where your PC is set as discoverable - which means that your PC is configured to be found by other trusted devices on the same network using protocols that support file sharing, printer access, and network discovery within the trusted network environment.
In contrast, anyone might connect to a public network in a coffee shop, library, airport, or sports arena.
