Recovering Lost QSOs from LotW
If you have lost QSOs from your log due to inadvertent deletion or a failure in your PC's hardware or software but were previously uploaded to LotW, you can restore these QSOs by downloading from LotW. The following information is recovered for each QSO:
- callsign
- frequency
- band
- mode
- QSO date and time
- propagation mode
- satellite name (if the propagation mode is SAT)
- station callsign
- LotW upload status
- LotW confirmation status
In particular, QSL card confirmation status is not recovered.
To recover lost QSOs from LotW,
make a backup of your current log (Config window, Log tab, Backup button)
on the Main window's QSL tab,
set the QSL Via tab to LotW
depress the CTRL key while clicking Sync LotW QSOs button; LoTW will report all accepted QSOs, and DXKeeper will set the LoTW QSL Sent item of each accepted QSO to 'Y' (this step can take awhile if you have uploaded a lot of QSOs to LotW)
on the Main window's Import tab,
enable Duplicate checking with a range of 1 minute
set the ADIF Style panel to standard ADIF
enable Determine missing items from entity and primary administrative subdivision
if you have a callbook installed and enabled, you have the option of enabling Query callbook and DXCC database for missing items; note that the callbook information for an "old" QSO may no longer be correct; the op may have relocated, or changed callsigns, for example
click the Clear Select button at the bottom of the tab
check the Set Select in imported QSOs to Y box
check the Record import errors in error file box
if you use myQTH identifiers and all QSOs upload to your LoTW account were from your default myQTH, then check the Substitute ... for missing QTH identifiers box
click the Start button; in the resulting ADIF import window, navigate to DXKeeper's Databases folder, select the file named LotW_QSOs_ADI.txt, and then click the Open button; DXKeeper will proceed to import QSOs from the file downloaded by LoTW as a result of step 2b. With duplicate-checking enabled, QSOs already in your log will not be imported.
on the Main window's Log QSOs tab,
click the Filter panel's Select button; this will filter the Log Page Display to contain all QSOs imported in step 3.i
click the Adv button; this will display the Advanced Sorts, Filters, and Modifiers window
in the Advanced Sorts, Filters, and Modifiers window's Modify QSOs panel,
set the Item name selector to APP_DXKEEPER_LOTW_QSL_SENT
type 'Y' in the Item new value box
click the Mod button to mark all QSOs imported in step 3.i as "accepted by LoTW"
on the Main window's Log QSOs tab, click the Filter panel's X button so that all QSOs are present in the Log Page Display
on the Main window's QSL tab, depress the CTRL key while clicking Sync LotW QSLs button; LoTW will report all confirmed QSOs, and DXKeeper will set each such QSO's LoTW QSL Rcvd item to 'V' if the confirmation has been granted DXCC award credit, or 'Y' if the confirmation has not been granted DXCC award credit (this step can take awhile if you have a lot of QSLs generated by LotW)
On the Main window's Log QSOs tab, click the Filter panel's Sel button; the Log Page Display will show you the the QSOs recovered from LotW.
