The CQ DX Marathon is an annual competition to work stations in all CQ countries and zones.

  1. Specify your Marathon Objectives

  2. If the Automatically recompute realtime award tracking box is not checked the top of the Configuration window's Awards tab,

    1. check the Automatically recompute realtime award tracking box

    2. at the bottom of the Main window's Check Progress tab, click the Recompute button

Checking Realtime Award Progress

  1. On the Main window's Log QSOs tab, click the RAT button to display DXKeeper's Realtime Award Tracking window

  2. In the Realtime Award Tracking window, select the Marathon tab

The Award Progress panel on the Marathon tab provides a scrollable table with a row for each of the 347 CQ countries and 40 CQ zones, and a column for each award category: Mixed, Phone, CW, Digital, and the bands from 160m to 2m. The code in each table cell indicates your award progress for its CQ zone and award category:

The Marathon Award Progress Filter panel lets you home in on specific CQ countries and zones. If you click this pane's All button, it displays a row for each of the 387 CQ countries and zones. If you wish to only see CQ countries and zones you haven't yet worked, then leave the Unworked box checked, and uncheck the Worked box. Set the Band selector to 80M, and you'll see only rows for CQ countries and zones that you haven't worked on 80m. Set the Mode selector to CW, and you'll see only rows for CQ countries and zones that you haven't worked in CW. At any time, you can click the All button to restore the table to showing rows for all 387 CQ countries and zones zones.

The Award Progress panel is live: double-clicking a cell will filter the Log Page Display to show all QSOs with the row's CQ country or zone and the column's band or mode.

Generating Progress Reports

The CQ DX Marathon Scoresheet you submit at the end of the year must be for a single Category: Mixed, single-band, or single-mode. However, aggressive competitors may pursue CQ DX Marathon on multiple bands and multiple modes through the course of a year, and then at year-end submit the Mixed, single-band, or single-mode Score Sheet that gives them the best chance for a win. Select a Category by clicking a button in the Category panel on the Marathon Year, Category, and Score Sheet Information window, which appears when you click the In the Year, Category, Score Sheet Info button in the Marathon Bands & Modes panel on the Configuration window's Awards tab.

To display a printable report of your CQ DX Marathon progress towards the selected Category, click the Progress button on the CQ DX Marathon panel on the Main window's Check Progress tab. This progress reports consider all QSOs in the Log Page Display that were made during the current year. Thus you can optionally filter the Log Page Display before generating the progress report to answer questions like "what CQ countries and zones have I worked this year while the solar flux index was below 100?".

To generate a Marathon Progress report for a year other than the current year specified in the Marathon Year, Category, and Score Sheet Information window, depress the CTRL key while clicking the CQ DX Marathon panel's Progress button, and you'll be able to specify the year for which the Progress Report is generated.
