Moving the Windows Kernel to Memory
Scott AC8DE described this procedure on the FlexRadio reflector as a way to reduce latency on Windows 7 systems. The same procedure is described here as a way to improve Windows XP performance.
create a System Restore Point
start the Windows Registry Editor
- navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Right-click the DisablePagingExecutive item and select the Modify menu item
In the Edit DWORD dialog box, change the value to 1
Click the OK button
