Configuring Pathfinder to Use an External Web Browser

Microsoft has stopped supporting the Internet Explorer web browser around which Pathfinder is constructed. As a result, Pathfinder cannot fully display web pages that exploit extensions to HTML - like those now used by Google maps. You can overcome this limitation by configuring Pathfinder to display web pages on a web browser of your choice instead of on its built-in instance of Internet Explorer. In the Configuration window's External Browser panel,

  1. click the Select button

  2. in the Select web browser executable file... window that appears, navigate to the folder containing the .exe file for the web browser of your choice, and double-click the entry for the .exe file

  3. check the Use external browser box

Unlike Pathfinder's built-in instance of Internet Explorer, browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox will display the results of each search in a new tab. If you prefer that the results of each search replace the results of the previous search,
